In 2007 we tendered for the supply and servicing of a number of Colour Printers and Photocopiers to a Government Organisation
We quoted the service cost as 0.8cent per page for both black & colour. The next best alternative quote was for 0.8cent per black copy/print & 6cents per colour copy/print.
Both offerings included all call outs, all parts & toners. Ours included black toner only and the colour toner was to be purchased separately as required. The other company would supply both black & colour toner but the service cost on colour prints and copies on their offer was 6cents per page versus 0.8cents per page from us (a difference of 5.2cent per page).
We won the business on machine price, service capability but also on that the basis that we would save the customer a significant amount over a 3 year period.
We are now at the end of that 3 years and here are the results.
Our Option:
- 660,000 Black Copies/Prints at 0.8 cents per copy/print = €5,280.00 (Black Toner Included)
- 1060,000 Colour Copies/Prints at 0.8 cents per copy/print = €8,480.00 (Colour Toner Excluded)
- Total Service Costs: = €13,760.00
- Colour Toners Costs Additional: = €8,231.00
- Total Costs: = €21,991.00

- 660,000 Black Copies/Prints at 0.8 cents per copy/print = €5,280.00 (Black Toner Included)
- 1060,000 Black Copies/Prints at 6 cents per copy/print = €63,600.00 (Colour Toner Included)
- Total Service Costs: = €13,760.00
- Total Costs: = €68,880.00
Total Saving By www.Photocopiers.ie: = €46,889.00.
It would have cost the customer 300% more had they opted for the alternative quotation which is actually an industry norm for suppliers in how they price their service contracts.
